![]() She will never see Inuyasha again.Įxcept, of course, she’s in love with Inuyasha, as she will understand just a few scenes later. He has completely accepted that he is going to die to satisfy Kikyo.īut then, Kagome has to return the Jewel fragments she had taken with her, and it’s the only thing that still ties her to Inuyasha, and she is acutely aware of the fact that if she hands them over, there will be no going back. (To be clear, Inuyasha isn’t doing so well either. She is thinking about leaving the Feudal Era behind for good, of never seeing Inuyasha again, because she doesn’t think she can ‘compete’ with Kikyo, as Kikyo ‘died for Inuyasha’ (again, not a thing I agree with). It’s actually a really heartbreaking moment. Kagome doesn’t just wish for Kikyo to be gone in just any situation. I’ve written about these chapters before here, though not from that aspect, but I think the reaction wanted from the reader is basically “oh wow, this is such a horrible and complicated situation and no one is really in the wrong and they’re all trying to do their best” (I don’t agree with that, but I think that’s what Rumiko is going for). In fact, I even think we’re supposed to be sympathizing with Kagome. ![]() Kagome herself doesn’t get to be upset because the man she loves is with the woman who tried to murder her, instead it’s portrayed as ✨jealousy✨, but even with all of that, I don’t think Rumiko intended for the reader to really blame Kagome. ![]() Of course, Kikyo’s wrongdoings aren’t really addressed by the story. ![]() You know, anon, I don’t think we’re supposed to blame her, when it happens. ![]()
